Ozark vintage stock car racing association is a group of people who are interested in restoring, showing and racing the old jalopy type dirt track cars. These types of cars ran dirt tracks all over the US from the 40's up through the 50's and into the mid to late 60's. Our goal is to have activities that will be fun for everyone. Some of us want to race competitively, which means we have to update our safety equipment to pass te
ch safety inspection to be able to race on today's tracks. Some have original old cars and don't want to change them (modern fuel cell, modern racing seat, etc.), so these cars are not able to race competitively but can get some track time running at 1/2 speed in a demonstration type event. No passing and staying spread out for safety reasons. Some do not want to race but enjoy showing the old racecars. Having some cars on display on the spectator side of the track before and during the races is always a big hit with the fans.
Our #1 goal is safety. We want to have a safe race, load all cars under their own power and with all of the paint they came with.
Our #2 goal is for everyone to enjoy the time they spent together and have a safe trip home and we want everyone to be able to say they had a fun time.
Our #3 goal is to put on a show that is entertaining to the track officials, promoters and fans. That is how we get an invitation to come back again.
In order to keep our Association running in an orderly fashion it is necessary to have some rules. We do not want to rule this thing to death but the number one rule is KEEP IT REAL. If it was not in use in the mid 60's then we don't want it. We have to use modern safety equipment to be able to race; other than that we want to keep the cars as authentic as possible.
